ARTIST
PROFILE
The magic of jewelry lies less in the sparkle of gold, diamonds and pearls than in its ability to express our inner notions of self: queens, warriors, women. Jewelry, as secret decoder ring, can be worn on our sleeves, our ears, and over our hearts. The objects we choose to adorn our ourselves and our environments must speak to us and of us.
My work in precious metals includes a contemporized Classical jewelry vocabulary as well as techniques most commonly associated with textiles. Both these traditions are rooted in the direct manipulation of material by the artist; hand fabrication. Work that comes directly from the hand possesses an element of organic growth and becomes a testimony of life and process. My commitment to hand fabrication, to one-of-a-kind and limited production jewelry stems from these concepts.
