FEATURED
WORK
In other sections of this site, and in any conversations some of you have had with me lately, I have referred to sculptural explorations, extensions of my recent jewelry explorations with textile techniques in metal, primarily knitted wire. Many of you have asked to see samples.
The Columns I knit are fairly literal extensions of some bracelets I have made. Wider and ranging in height from 8 to 10 feet tall, they retain the ethereal, intimate, organic sensibility I try to achieve in the jewelry. The columns remind me of trees, even tree ghosts, magic forests. They are simultaneously full of hope, and full of sadness at the great environmental losses going on at this time. These are some of my thoughts, but they call up many different references for others.
In addition to the columns, I make textural pieces that reference writing or natural surfaces, such as tree bark. The sculptural work continues my efforts to contribute beauty to the world.
Please email me if you are interested in seeing more or being on the mailing list for sculptural exhibitions.
